Nostr content needs to move beyond Bitcoin to attract more nocoiners. I've been engaging almost exclusively with non Bitcoin, non financial content for this reason.

Everyone here today has the opportunity to be the foundation of whatever community they want to grow on nostr. Send out that signal and the nostr algorithm will find you.

Move to where the future is going. Bitcoin and nostr. Post and live as if they are both already globally adopted. Don't waste your most scarce resource, your time, promoting either one. Sheep wake up when the wolves get danger close. The evils of this world will do the purple and orange pilling for us.

The more involved I become, the more I look at my notes as a personal diary that I can pass on to my kid(s), preserved on my self hosted relay for as long as they want to remember me without the need to trust any corporation, data profiteering models, etc. All the other stuff being built on nostr is just extra.

Live your best life, share what you want on nostr. ✌️🧡
One of my favorite people. He understands. He has a very strong signal.

The way it is now (not anyone's fault) is that overwhelmingly we have BTC/Crypto stuff and memes. Most of the memes are BTC. It's too monoculture to attract people. Writing poetry mixed with a few Zen pieces for over half a year was an interesting experiment on here. In the end, I met some very cool people but I didn't get much traction. That doesn't matter to me because I developed my writing and had a ton of fun.

I recently started posting my writing mainly on my website with a repost on Substack and I post an excerpt on Nostr with a link. I've had a multiplicatively higher response on Substack in a short time than I ever did here. That's not indicative of a problem on Nostr. It's just indicative of the strong tie-in with BTC (Zaps) on here.

The general public isn't going to go for crypto because they do not understand it. They don't understand it because they don't make any effort to understand in their daily lives. Why? Because they are accustomed to being fed a story from FB$, G$, A$, etc. feeds. Easy mode is attractive because it requires little to no effort. Hard truths but not new truths.

Getting involved with BTC took time and some suggestions and help from nostr:nprofile1qqs90vmqaach994syuj36egmm5ln878rjlh0260qjxjku0pqhclk6kcpz4mhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejqzrthwden5te0dehhxtnvdakqzyrhwden5te0dehhxarj9emkjmn92upedw for me to get going. I put in the effort and understand it as much as I need/want to at this point. Most people won't do it, think BTC is for criminals (because the media tells them so) and see no value in it.

If we can get more people doing other things on here, then it will open up Nostr for more people. At the moment though, I would be shooting myself in the foot if I got rid of my website or stopped posting to Substack.

My take. Plain and simple. Now on to Dogen and the Shobogenzo and a git of Grimm's.

In a world where going viral and making money has become a top priority, there will be a tiny few who genuinely want to express themselves freely and unconditionally. They will hopefully also be problem solvers to humanity’s biggest challenges.
Before deactivating my twitter account, I had already deleted most of my content from 2018-2024. It was the stuff from 2007-2017 that was most interesting. I started a few farmers market stalls. Opened a restaurant. Changed jobs. Got into Bitcoin mining. Went on holidays to Europe....But it was never my data was it...
