 - Why the pyramids are still in Egypt?
- They were too big to take to the British Museum.

Yeah, but the Great Altar of Zeus at Pergamon wasn't too big to take to Berlin...

Incidentally, this may be "Satan's Throne" that Jesus referred to in His letter to the church in Pergamon in Revelation 2:13.
true, but unfair, anacronic complaint. nobody in egypt gave a f... about ancient stuff back then.

egyptians broke stuff for construction material (as europeans did with many roman ruins) Robbed them when they were not forgotten and buried. One ruler even attempted to destroy the pyramids as "jahiliya" (proved to be too expensive).

the interest on ancient monuments is recent, egyptians must have been amused that somebody was stupid enough to pay them to dig out that useless stuff, or even come from far away to see them.
They only started to care when it was clear that tourism would be profitable.
