@03a95182 Big shoes for anyone else to fill; his mere physical presence and restrained performance lent so much to that key character. The whole show was really well cast.

I can imagine writing him off (“he’s on another adventure now…”) just because recasting him would be so daunting. I don’t envy them that decision at all — they’ll get lambasted no matter what choice they make.
@3409b63c What scares me a little bit is them Grand Moff Tarkin-ing him (a la Rogue One), but maybe all the current sturm und drang around AI actor replication/replacement will quell that. We'll see.
@03a95182 they’ve typically been cautious and have handled it sensitively, though not always wholly successfully. But, to quote another Rogue One character, “well, you have to start somewhere.”

I’m 60:40 recast:write-him-out. 🤷‍♂️
@3409b63c @03a95182 that last shot of him standing in a blue glow, I thought he looked like a Force Ghost. Maybe he “died on his way back to his home planet”, à la Poochie?
@297fb9e6 @3409b63c The Force glow thing was Ani, not Baylan. But this suggests that Ani's Force ghost is going to play an important role in the story - after all, he's the prophecied one who's supposed to return balance to the Force, remember?
