To be fair, those old-fashioned methods of food production wouldn't be able to feed even half the current world population. What we really need is increased efficiency paired with increasing quality requirements and environmental standards. Which, very importantly, includes getting rid of this strange idea that there's anything romantic about farming. That idea only exists in the minds of people who have never been on a farm.
