Relays have been blocking spam since day one, just like email and big web servers. But for some reason, the big relay operators haven’t blocked the current spammer. It’s a bit strange.

Interesting to see their approach, but also hard to apply same tools here with 100% frictionless accounts (keys). Using any sort of IP based solutions is also impossible, since many use TOR and VPNs. Scanning of all media for safety is implemented on Nostr.build, but none of the clients use or care about additional headers we publish. Welcome to the Wild West of decentralization and “everyone is in their own camp, so not their problem” type of inevitable situation. Love seeing what others are doing though! 🫡

Just worry about spam. Never, ever, under any circumstances try to moderate legitimate content, in addition to rating it. Don't turn Nostr into that leftist pigsty called bluesky.
You want to legitimize every content? I think there are illegal videos that should be moderated on every plattform.

Technically the owner of the hosting system. And legally the state where the hosting system is stated in. And morally the owner of the hosting system. It is everyones choice, if one wants to commit illegal acts. But I would never want to host pictures or videos where people are humiliated. Not would I allow people on my servers, which do not respect warnings, after they have been discriminating to others individually or against a group. Give me any reason why one should respect bullying and racism for example?
Good arguments. Do you think, that states should have the permission to crackdown on content you may morally oppose? Of course the owner of a system should have the fully Control of content he hosts or doesnt want to and you as a customer should also have the freedom to move away to another host or Software, if you think, this company is not meeting your standards.
Depends how objectively it is imoral. If it is a critique to anything that someone else is doing and this person can change it (as speaking or acting for most people are free acts, that have the source in your conciousnes and you can change it if you want) there should be no legitimation in silencing this critique. Since it would hinder improvement. When a critique goes to unchangable things, like color of skin, sexual orientation or your origin, I think these are very weak attacks and should be clearly isolated by other users (morally, not legaly) but should only be banned, it hurts the personal rights of someone. Like if you would post my address, real name and phonenumber, this would go against my rights and I would try to make this post disappear with leagal measures. And hopefully most hosters would comply.
On personal level, I would also ban shit I dont like on my property. But you believe that the (un)-justice system of the corrupt state could save your rights?
Yes in most cases I think the justice system does a great job in securing my rights.

No in which manners it does help you to distrust any government? Democratic governments are mostly driven by many people. And the most powerful are elected by the people. So I think there are defnitly some I do not trust personally. But the whole government I do not distrust because there are some untrustworthy. Since they need to orient their behavior on the opinions of the people. If not, they will not serve the next governance term. So I beleave that the government of a country always represents more or leaa its society. So problems in government do actually have their seeds in society. This is like this, since governments are based and legitimized in society. Society is not legitimized by government and does not need to be.
That's not it. It's important to understand that spam filtering is not censorship, and filtering legitimate content that isn't spam is censorship. Nostr is not about not having censorship. What I'm against is stealth censorship. I accept stealth spam filtering, but I can't, on principle, be in favor of stealth filtering legitimate content. A relay has every right to censor legally dangerous material, or even the right to ideologically filter any material. Because it's a private server. I'm against not making this clear and not having a way to audit this. These are two functions that should be performed differently.
I had a look at Bluesky and the biggest problem I saw there was simply the fact that some of th emost recent posts were 3 months old !
People come and go on there the same as here. I don’t see how that’s a problem.
on the pages I looked at, 3 month old posts kinda lead to low interection... Primal seems a little more active and, if I am honest, I am pleased to be here in the early user count... loving this place..... oh, and I think I just became your 1000th follower ;- )

I've only just joined NOSTR...So..If you click on your username on the bottom left of your screen ( assuming you using a PC Screen) , that will show you your account details..number of posts, Zaps, following, followers etc etc...
