 For sure on the pricey side. Cost would be split 5/6 ways depending on those in our circle of support that opts in with us. One radio per household for critical incidents. 
 If it’s a group thing then it’s not that expensive when you split the cost 

It has good reviews too 
I’ve not tried any radios but they appeal a lot, including #HAMradio 
 Please don't buy these for emergencies. Your money would be better spent on some lifestraws and a bucket of MREs. 
 Thanks for the advice. Food and water is sorted. These are simply just another option to have on hand. And good for the area we find ourselves. Redundancies, not single perfect choices.
