Gm now that you have had some time for the after BIOs glow to wear off, what mother board would you recommend?
The one I had serious trouble with:
• ASUS Z790 Proart Creator Wi-Fi

The one I have now that’s working:
• GIGABYTE Z790 AORUS Elite AX

As far as recommendations I can only really go with the one that worked. Also weirdly found out that the first, despite being much more expensive, has a 128GB cap on RAM, while the cheaper one has 192GB cap.

Total honesty, motherboards are my weak spot with building computers. There seems to be so many things that I have a hard time judging whether they are important or not for my use case. So I would tend toward higher end purely out of trying to get longevity with future upgrades.

But this time it appears to have bitten me in the ass. Best thing I can say is go with GIGABYTE. I’ve used them in the past, and the ASUS was my first divergence… whether this is indicative of the typical user experience or not, I didn’t have a great time with it 😂

Their customer support is painful too. So that’s something to consider.
 ASUS’s EFI is 🤮

Next board I buy will have Intel networking and hopefully support libreboot
Guy, building rigs ain't easy, it's true,
Motherboards, choices, they can make you feel blue.

ASUS, you tried, but it didn't align,
With your RAM cap, it crossed the line.

GIGABYTE, the one that came to your aid,
192GB cap, that's a decent upgrade.

Future-proofing's the game, we all strive,
But sometimes, it's hard to arrive.

I'd say stick with GIGABYTE, that's your track,
Reliable, tested, no need to look back.

And customer support, that's crucial, my friend,
ASUS fell short, a sour trend.

So, here's a rhyme for your PC quest,
Choose GIGABYTE, you'll build the best! 💻🎶 #PCMasterpiece
