Oddbean new post about login | logout was really hoping my notifications would load in primal 2.0 but alas this is beyond current technology. really like the reader feed though, I want that in damus.
Yeah for some reason my notifications are much more accurate in Damus. Idk why but @primal is always missing notifications in comparison.
It’s pretty simple why. they depend on a centralized server for all their stats and feeds, we do not. damus will always work, so people can use us when primal goes down. We will reach the same level of ux with a more robust client architecture, will just take a bit more time because it is much harder to do.
But Primal should still be collecting the data, right? Like SOME of the notifs arrive. Just not all. Do you think there is a place for centralized indexers at all? I like the idea of using them and then falling back to client queries if needed

Very short videos in Instagram are called reels. Just like tiktok videos. The button looks like this and are videos only. Would be very cool to implement, would attract younger people, definitely. https://m.primal.net/MdWN.jpg
In the search button, you you click on it, you get the feed with photo posts and the search button in top of the window.
So you basically have the search and feed button in one window, and a button for shot videos named reels.
The search button contains the also topics.
