Maybe it’s time to stop selling nostr the social protocol and start selling nostr the next wave of innovative apps technology 🤔
I completely agree. None of the Nostr projects I'm working on are social media projects. Limiting the protocol to just the social media use case is a failure to grasp the potential of the technology. Any Nostr app, I think, will be social, because the protocol is built around user identity, but there are more ways to be social than just chit-chatting about current events.
Yup , cos the social experience continues to be terrible
huh. my social experience has been quite pleasant 🤷 i wonder if some of the legacy Silicon Valley mindset of how things work has been carried in. it would be a novel experiment to try something different. maybe like not looking outward so much, begging people to come, but focusing inward trying to build and refine. but that can be hard
Yeah, there’s just not much engagement ever, it’s an abyss. You see the usual big Nostr heads and it revolves around them, which is fine. Search and discovery will hopefully improve this. I’m still positive. I agree that a novel approach needs to be explored…
isnt it like that in every social network?
Yeah I guess you’re right. Twitter used to be great to get engagement (now it’s terrible pay-to-play) . The algorithms are not all bad and are definitely necessary to get content we want and link us to people we might be interested in
💯 yes. If all we're doing is building Twitter clones then there's no reason for anyone else to be interested. If we're building a social protocol for the internet then, wow, how do I build on that?
give a concrete example
