never really thought about that, it's possible & makes sense. i was in the mix when the socketslides started showing up but was thinking there were already metal guitars - idk, but curious t-y Dawn nicemems! 

 stupid me, i have an all metal harp from an old organ leaning against the garage wall. recycling it because people hardly use the olde heavy things anymore. but it is appealing to my eye & hated tearing this apart. my best friend & biz partner(phd in music) has played pipe organs(intricate instrument) around this world - composer/translator/etc. 

 just the harp probably weighs close to 250/300lbs 

 i remember an all metal banjo, thinking first then the guitars, but not clear. i was around the Texas scene & think that is where the banjo was with - Stevie Ray or the ZZ guys/could have been with a number of those back then. ZZTop loved old cars & metal! Butshit, so did Willy Nelson, Stevie, Huey Lewis......most of that crew & it bled over into Seattle/Tacoma grunge & out n about. The music scene was smaller & homeboy like back then.
