Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said that if Donald Trump is elected president again, he would quickly demand peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. Orban also said that Trump has developed "well-founded plans" for doing so, after a private discussion with the Republican candidate. In a private letter, Orban asked the EU to reopen direct diplomatic communication with Russia and "high-level" negotiations with China to end the Ukraine war. Orban also mentioned that the intensity of the military conflict will radically escalate in the near future, based on his discussion with Presidents of Russia, Ukraine, and China. Orban's recent trips to meet Putin, Xi, and Trump while holding the EU's rotating presidency have drawn rebuke from allies in the bloc and NATO.
