Going through my archives... How many of these discontinued Bitcoin hardware devices can you recognize? https://image.nostr.build/3e9ceb659c4dab64f7626c6b8b18f149bd50bf72b18e7b847563aa64bcd42d93.jpg#m=image%2Fjpeg&dim=1920x945&alt=Hardware+wallets&blurhash=ZfMtjn%3Fb-%3BD%25%25NIU%3Fbt7Rj%25MofayayfjWBRjayay%7EqWBM%7Bt7RjofIUWBoeRjRjWBoeoft7ofj%5Bof&x=762842bf6184fa45d4d85478a7ba4285a30354ee849641926c28809f2a3f95bd
Mycelium had a hardware device? 😮
I think it was a kickstarter so long ago I barely remember. I have one but never used it. From what I remember it connects to a printer and you print a paper wallet.
Hahahahahaha…
We have come a long way haha.
My first paper wallets were made with an airgapped laptop running Ubuntu with the offline version of bitaddress.org on it. I can’t believe that website still exists! 😆
Yes. It behaved like a pendrive with a PDF on it. Every time you plug it in, it's a different paper wallet on that PDF with strong entropy.
That's kind of cool, but doesn't seem very secure.
It probably was decent for the time as long as you printed over a USB cable and not a WiFi network. But since it was a P2PKH address, it could only be spent from once by sweeping it to another wallet.
Cool. I only had a couple bucks worth of bitcoin on a blockchain-dot-infoinfo wallet back then, so I never set up a paper wallet.
I hope you didn’t get rugged on that.
which one is that? https://image.nostr.build/bd6eb3769acda470cfa06fabc5889ad20f24c5ba176ba9929595d23f2ddcc240.jpg
Never heard of it https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoin-physical-wallet-biometric-authentication-cryptolabs-launching-2015/
BitBox01, Mycelium Entropy, Ledger Nano, ???, Ledger Blue. Although I worked for Mycelium, I only had the Ledger Blue of these. That 4th device ... I'm curious. Somewhere around 2014 I think somebody bought bitcoin from me using a device like this but it had a black and white e-ink display, a camera and a GSM chip that was supposedly paid for globally for many years.
Yep, it's a Case Wallet. Great concept but poor execution. https://blog.lopp.net/case-wallet-review/
The KeepKey was one of my biggest disappointments.
It's a Trezor clone. Bigger display. The company went all in on shitcoins, so yeah, ... not great.
After Shapeshift bought it they forced you to use their website with the exchange built-in. It was a real pain in the ass for me to use and I had to end up importing the seed phrase into Electrum to get everything out of there.
Their website is down. At WalletScrutiny we list it as "defunct". Do you know if it still works or does it rely on their server infrastructure that is gone now?
It relied up their server infrastructure.
But do you have one of these wallet bois? https://image.nostr.build/90ef62f5285238eedd63a704724df9e7ec8ff3b60d36f9997c2c9076aa77284f.jpg#m=image%2Fjpeg&dim=1134x1527&blurhash=_FMZ%2CY0100s%3A00%3FHWCx%5D4oR%2B9Zxt-pae01WBM%7Cxt%7EWayt6WE%3FGxZkCRkRjj%5B00bH-%3AWBM%7BjZxuxa-pV%5BRjt7oMRk4%3AbGofayt6ayR*NG%252t6WCRkWBs%3A9aofxaazj%5Bayf6&x=676f9d43b2aa9ba95815af8b3f6bfd1311228a34aaeb390d804442c3c679a460
I do. Appeared in 2014 i think and EOL in 2015. Do you remember who was the vendor?
Ledger
Nope ☺️ It was their predecessor called Epic dreams.
