Like the people in Sagan's book Contact that used the tunnels, but didn't build them - like the crews attempting to stabilize Ring World, I feel like a hack vs. the architects of the WWW that understood graphs and semantics.  I glimpse the beauty sometimes, though, the consistency and intent.  Even the most simple things like "why resistance to a naked domain?" have a foundation.
