this makes me sad.
I’m in Walmart for work this morning, the store is in a low income part of town.
all for the beauty supply’s, all of the over the counter medication, all of the baby food & even the landry detergent are under lock & key here.
I can’t imagine being an upstanding but low income citizen and being treated as if I were a criminal in my own community. https://image.nostr.build/44a699bd21170d628f5f0b07098a89c5299170109b020406d97d2559a8abae09.jpg https://image.nostr.build/c21dd2f03cb66cd7fe670a136fd4598881a0c77a6afd2dcba9f543199bf4880e.jpg
CVS is the same way now too
Worst of capitalism
Not sure I blame that on capitalism. A communist store/depot would also lock up in areas of high crime, if they even had products on the shelves to begin with.
Locked shelves were common in Russia when I was there almost 15 years ago.
Stores lost $121.6 billion to retail theft in 2023; projections indicate shoplifting could cost retailers over $150 billion in 2026.
Locking things up is the least they can do
I discussed this with the store manager. He told me his store has over live 250 live video cameras.
This is a societal problem.
It is the decay and respect of one’s community. Theft is undeserved & false entitlement. This has become an anthropological issue.
Thank the thieving scumbags.
Its rough out here in the real streets of America
Yep. I think it’s also a very common practice for other stores like Walgreens to do the same thing in “Urban areas” aka where predominately Black & POC people live.
It’s a false assumption which is biased cuz it’s White Collar financial crime committed by wealthy people who probably steal a hella LOT more money and things but they get off cuz can afford to hire good Lawyers!
It’s bullshit!
