For long-form podcasts, do you prefer when pauses and filler words (um, like, etc) are edited out, or do you prefer the conversation completely unedited? Currently on @Titcoin I leave the conversations completely unedited, but I’m curious what people prefer. #AskNostr #podcasting
Pauses have something to say. Pause on the pause censorship.
Umm, I prefer it natural. Seems like a lot of work to manually cut all those humanisms. Can you do it with AI?
Leave the pauses in, if anything only edit out awkward mouth noises and replace with room tone. Other mixing considerations: - De-ess both guests. Nothing will make me turn off a podcast faster than harsh sybilance - Match overall loudness of both host and guest using EQ/compression. - Consider editing out or automating background noise with gates.
Unedited
Unedited. Psychologically thes little ums, ands, pauses, etc let other humans know you are infact human, not ai.
No editing! The podfather wouldn’t approve!
I don’t approve either ;)
You’ll just have to drop a few “we’ll edit that out in post” and never actually do it like No Agenda 😂
Definitely unedited. More natural.
I prefer it to be be unedited. I listen at 1.5-2x speed (depending on the speaker) so I barely notice pauses anyway.
completely unedited for me
edited, I guess I have to confess: I _loved_ that clip-clip feature of Pocket Casts
On principle I like to think I prefer the unedited rips, but I don’t necessarily know which ones have been edited, so it’s hard to say. For example, @NVK recently mentioned that the reason Bitcoin.review episode are only 3 hours long is because he needs to edit out the “ums”. Maybe if he didn’t, I could actually get some shuteye during those snooze fests, but for now I guess I’ll continue to be manipulated into paying attention 🤷♂️ For Titcoin: don’t change a thing.
100% unedited. Need to feel genuinely authentic. Edited recordings will feel edited and loose the truthful nature. If you really can't stand a few um's & such you've got some issues!
Unedited. I listen 1.5 speed at least. Maybe a filter that reduces long silences by certain percentage. Always make sure volumes are equal.
Equal volumes is so much more important than some umms! It’s really and almost dangerous when driving when I am constantly fiddling with the volume to listen to a podcast.
Unedited conversations please Walker.
I think we need to fix our filler language when we speak more than we need to fix it in post. my next documentary is actually about this 😅
unedited. you'd only be giving yourself (or someone else) more work to do.
Unedited for sure
Great question, and very informative that 95% answers that they prefer unedited podcasts
Only edit those with short clips, keep long form long
unedited proves a lot....Edited AI stuff🤔🤔
