As a millennial, the concept of "renting" will haunt me for the rest of my life. Bitcoin is the only asset I own and it will never be available for rent.
I blame Apple and iTunes. Since iTunes started by leasing access to music you had ALREADY paid for, it's been a slow sly creep toward digital serfdom... i couldn't identify it at first, but this has been my ideological beef with Apple since the iPod.

They have to. It's the only way to be profitable long term with digital content long term. Only way back is to revert to physical media. Which I'm okay with and advocate, but I don't think it's going to happen.

It's because technology is constantly making the cost of goods drop towards zero. Exponentially increasing abundance is gradually negating the whole point of capitalism. Just imagine when everybody figures out that all they need to do is put their money in Bitcoin and watch their net worth grow while they sleep.
