Elon reminding everyone of the late, great Milton Friedman. "Abolish all of it." Amen https://v.nostr.build/WjF8FrQ9zAjDknW3.mp4
Notice - Milton Friedman wasn't an anarchist. He left 4 and 1/2 government departments. He has clear reasoning about which to keep and which to abolish and why. - He honors the people's wish and doesn't want to be dictator - he wouldn't do this without the people being onboard. - He thinks the government has some role to play in preventing contagion (think COVID-19).
I highly suspect his opinion about Covid would be very different after seeing it in practice. But the other things are generally sensible, but they also do not necessitate that he isn’t an anarchist. Example: I would probably answer similarly, despite being an anarschist. But it’s not because I support the govt being in control of these things, it’s because I think we still lack the technology to truly secure these things *against* government. I think liberty is ultimately a technology problem, and there are still many more parts of it to decentralize in both a physical and cultural sense. I think we will, it seems to be the indefinite march of technology itself, but that doesn’t mean I think the best course of action is to eradicate everything tomorrow morning. That said, Milton was pretty open in being a minimalist. So I’m not disagreeing. He clearly was. Still think he was brilliant and i envy his incredible ability to explain things. I hope to be as clear as him one day.
I personally believe that the government does have a role in preventing contagion, just like they have a role in preventing crime and preventing war and preventing the risk of people who drive too fast. One person putting excessive risk on another against that other's will.... that is a valid purpose of government. Of course the specifics would be a mess to work out... how fast is driving too fast? how bad of a disease does it have to be for the government to quarantine you? how big of a gun is too big? The fact that I posit these questions means I'm not a minimalist libertarian/anarchist. It means I don't believe that we have as a species worked out how to co-exist in peace without some form of dominance hierarchy (government officials have power over plebians) oppressing us all. If you have worked out a better solution I'm all ears because government sucks compared to free markets.. But a lack of government sucks more. What happened wrong with COVID was that they all over-reacted to a minor disease (because they secretly knew it was from weapons research and that freaked them out) and decided to coerce people to take a risky rapidly developed medical product.
Peter Robinson looks so young. I listen to his Uncommon Knowledge show on occasion. He even had a Bitcoin Episode back in March, but he chose Brian Armstrong (Coinbase CEO) as the guest for it so unfortunately it was mostly shitcoining.
What a joke! Elon depends on the government (subsidies, grants, tax breaks, tax credits, environmental credits, funding, contracts, laws,...) for the survival of his businesses.
He has actually explicitly said to end all electric car subsidies and that they are pointless and aren’t needed. Just a caveat there.
What he says and what he does are often entirely different.
So gullible.
lol, I just don’t fixate on the guy on the positive or negative like so many do, imo. Everyone does the same thing with Trump. He’s not a savior nor a fascist reincarnation of the devil. He’s mostly just a doofus and doesn’t fall in line with the general establishment. Elon is in a similar spot, but i think there’s no arguing the guy is clearly competent and “autistic focused” on building stuff.
So Elon is nothing like Milton Friedman.
I… I literally never said he was. In any way actually.
By the way, the doofus is the next President of the United Sates who controls, the military, intelligence, executive, legislative, and judicial.
It’s always a doofus, a lunatic, or a mass murderer. So nothing new
I find it’s best to spend 30mins fixating on him every morning, that way you get really good at it.
🤣🤣 that’s a good rule of thumb
I mean sure you can always say he is being dishonest, but I’m just pointing it out. We will see what happens in this regard. But generally I don’t fault someone for taking tax credits and assistance. I certainly take everything I can and I would hope you do. But I also advocate the end of all subsidies, and rather than tax credits, the income tax should be removed completely. Artificial manipulation of market demand is stupid and generally destructive.
That's because Tesla cannot get them anymore. However, ask him if he wants to end government mandating carbon and emissions penalties and requirements globally. He makes billions of of the nonsense carbon credit market that wouldn't exist without government agencies like the EPA. In fact, I believe carbon credit are like 25%+ of Tesla's income.
Carbon credits are the establishment’s shitcoin scam. There are way too many companies running on that disaster.
Literally. Just sub out the credit for a token. 😂😂😂 In fact, I think there actually may be a carbon or green shitcoin for that. Lol
I like that Tesla is scamming the government into printing more fiat. If more companies and individuals did the same, we could bring this charade to a swift conclusion.
Milton Friedman was a shitcoin compared to Murray Rothbard https://m.primal.net/Mckf.jpg
Murray was the goat
I loved his gentle rebuke on the literary device of saying “if you were dictator for a day” — very principled and wholesome Too fast for TV purposes; I would love to listen to the unabridged, audiobook-length version of this 😁
