They need to figure out a synthetic spark of creativity. I think they’ll get there, but the relatively feed-forward transformer-based generative AIs are probably not it. They just spit out a derivative of what they’ve been trained on. There may be promise in something like liquid neural nets. 

 I just assumed that fans would oversee the whole process. The creativity would come from them and the AI would unleashed them like Steven Spielbergs with unlimited budgets.
