 @ca5977db Automattic is the company that leads the development of the platform WordPress.org & runs WordPress.com. If you have a WordPress.com blog and then want to take ownership of it, you can download WordPress the platform and host it yourself. I think that's about as good as it can get inasmuch as blogs go.

I'll hang up and listen though if anyone has a better idea.
 @ca5977db "Blogs should belong to creators, not platforms. With WordPress.com, every word, every photo, and every thought you share belongs to you. And only you. That means you can easily export your entire blog and take it anywhere, at any time."

 @ca5977db Mastodon :mastodon:
support is coming to WordPress.com too!

"the software supports self-hosted WordPress blogs, but Wiebe teased that support for WordPress.com blogs was “coming soon.”

You can buy web hosting, install the WordPress software completely independent of WordPress.com and it will exist as long as you pay your hosting.
