 #asknostr

I am up for freedom and censorship resistant. However, how do we keep away adversary like child predators on here?

It is no news that with freedom comes a bigger responsibility for this community.

How do we keep this new tribe safe especially for kids? I am genuinely curious and I do not have answers yet.

#grownostr #nostr #growthteacher

Cheers,
M💋
My boys don't have Nostr accounts, but if they did I would tell them to use common sense, and good OPSEC.

Nostr in that way is exactly the same as Roblox or YouTube.
So pleased to here it. Awareness and education for those kids are really crucial. I had a scare when my nephew in law told me that he accessed the "dark-web" with NO OPSEC. ppphhheeewww! I had to give him some basic opsec and give him the scary stuff that happened in there! I am former cyber specialist but never did I venture on there! 🤓
You should teach your boys about TND and to never trust women.
 What do you mean TND?
Eh, the PG-12 version of it is
Total Nigger Deportation. It is what America, Europe and all of the west needs imo.
I blocked the TND proposer, because even if practical or sensible, that wouldn't accomplish what you ask.

So that was easy!
What would it not accomplish? Also, why block me?
To be honest I'm not sure. Can you be a bit more specific though on what dangers you're worried about?
I guess I am trying to reflect on what has happened with the centralised platform where kids go on there and predators sent DM of explicit contents and other stuff. I am curious as a community here, is there a way we can avoid this? I am thinking out loud.
I am also aware that whether Nostr or any other platforms, you can never gate keep adversary 100%. It will always come down to the parents and to whoever is interacting the tech.
Probably not in any reliable way. Soecific applications built on top of nostr might be able to offer a minimal level of protection against that kind of thing, but at the protocol I don't think it's even desirable to try to solve for that.
Agreed. Not on protocol level. Also I believe on the thread we have collectively agreed that this comes down to good parenting and the means the children are provided. 🙂
 What are kids?
Age of Consent even among gangsterment members worldwide ranges from 13 to 18.

Kids by definitions are minors. I am speaking out loud. Isn't that the point of "open dialogue"?

It is easy to simply watch if you do not have children who are under age or nephews or nieces. Until you have one and the threat is real. However, you can refer to my previous thread on here.

OK, what are "minors" if age of consent ranges 13-18?

What is "explicit content"?

What is the "threat"?
So you are asking me that because it is "legal" it is morally ok for children who are underage to see manhood?

In case you do not have dictionary or I don't come across speaking in "English" I am referring to "adult content", p*rn videos that no child must be exposed to! However, I am in no illusion that these days kids cannot acess it if they have the means to do so.

Could I ask, is it ok with you for minors to be exposed on those content? I mean regardless of platform, as an adult yourself?
 It's simply unavoidable.

In some territories I go and live, it's considered inappropriate for men and women to show their bare legs in public.

Yet, our children are forced to see foreign visitor women parading around in Lycra tights that were considered intimate underwear just a generation ago. We are forced see their breasts, outlines of their genitals underneath.

How can we protect our children from such explicit content right on our public streets?
Fair point. I agree with the public sense. It is indeed unavoidable. Hence, on my previous threat here that it all comes down to the parents and the means.
 Go amish
People do the equivalent - return or move to rural areas, traditional lifestyles.

The same "tourists" come there and dare the local police to arrest them for wearing outfits and acting in ways that we consider what these visitors call "pornography", "harming minors", et cetera.

When we don't force our ways on them, they force their ways on us, even when we " go Amish".
Let me add why it is a THREAT:

Exposure to explicit content poses significant risks to children, leading to various harmful outcomes. Research indicates that early exposure to pornography is linked to poor mental health, increased sexual risk-taking, and problematic sexual behaviors, including coercion and harassment[1][4][6]. Children may develop distorted views on sexuality, leading to issues like sexism, objectification, and even sexual violence[1][3][5]. Furthermore, the normalization of such content can result in long-term behavioral problems, making it crucial for parents and educators to monitor and restrict access to explicit materials[2][3][5].

There are defined by cultural and societal norms, which have always fluctuated. But, I will say that it's something good parents should easily Intuit.
OK, then it's impossible to define in a global space that nostr is.

"Good parents" should then not give access to nostr or anything where local norms are violated to minors, children.
For females, I would say they are kids either prior to menstruation or below age 10 to 12.
For men, a bit below age 14 to 15.
That might last for your generation, but can you guarantee Australia won't fall for the "we need less Whites and more niggers" propaganda that fell upoj the west?
