I have a website that has many users But I can't email them all because 80% use Gmail and Gmail will label me as spam if I suddenly do an email blast. But they say email (pop/imap/smtp) is a decentralized protocol? Maybe it is, but in practice it's basically just Gmail. Lettuce not make this same mistake on nostr.
Give us best practices then!
Run your own relay and support clients that use the gossip model
Setting up my relay up with @SimplifiedPrivacy.com Podcast rn (and email!) What clients use the gossip model right now? Which don’t?
Gossip and coracle use it so far that I'm aware of
This is four months old, but is copy paste from Mike Dilger himself... Gossip, coracle, nozzle, camelus.app, snort, lume, amethyst, and anything built using PABLOF7Zs NDK use this NIP-65 "gossip model". Damus, primal, iris, and many other clients still use a fixed set of relays, many with a client-side caching server so their users don't miss out of notes on other relays. But most of those client's developers have expressed interest or concrete plans to move to the gossip model. Rabble just mentioned today that is on the roadmap for nos.
Email from my domain gets blocked by Gmail because I'm unwilling to do some lame verification balogna. 🫤
whats the way out of this gmail ish.
Nostr. Email is antiquated
I think you're exaggerating and conflating issues. "basically just Gmail" when Gmail is 28% market share? https://m.primal.net/HsVO.webp
I use Proton myself, so I think I'd be able to receive your emails okay, and not have them as SPAM.
