I want to thank Alex Gladstein for reaching out to me. It appears that what happened was the result of a mistake in judgment of one staffer and not what HRF's bitcoin team would have approved of, if they had known. It was really shocking to be told by a conference organizer that my talk was not allowed if it was going to be controversial (because I referred to someone as a communist), so I'm grateful that this was an error of judgment and nothing more.
