The rules, similar to nutritional labels on products, will provide easy-to-understand information about pricing, data allowances, speeds, and fees. The labels will be required to appear at any point of sale, including online and in stores. The Biden administration has been cracking down on 'junk fees' across industries. Providers that do not comply with the rules may face consumer complaints filed with the FCC. Some providers with less than 100,000 subscribers have until October 10, 2024, to comply.
