 Are you talking about the show? The book series Silo was based on, the Wool series by Hugh Howey, was quite original, and I'm pretty sure it came out long before Fallout was a thing. Of course, the book is almost always better the the show or movie, as there are various aspects, and differences in tone that are difficult to portray in a show. I read the books and they were fantastic. One of those series that sticks in your mind long after you've read them.  

 Fallout is way better 

 Fallout is definitely not way better than the book series the show was based on. And those books came out long before Fallout was a thing.
