@efa2e20e @388a5698 Don't worry other then some red text no funds were lost, you actually saved 49 sats! BoostBot is self hosted in a privacy preserving way via tor on a pi. The goal is to update the hardware but tor is tor. Tor has some new proof of work system rolling out which will hopefully help. We are all running with scissors. TYFYC and I apologizes for any inconvenience it may cause you.
@88fdbd58 So @388a5698 should remove boostbot from Unrelenting split as Boostbot is useless?
@efa2e20e @388a5698 Its a bit hash CSB but he can manage his show as he pleases. Boostbot is not a big company its just me and a pi and I have a job and its been a long week. Usually when this happens it resolves itself. It happens all the time with other nodes. I would prefer if you just let me know and I can see If I can fix it, I am currently updating tor.
@88fdbd58 @efa2e20e The bot is great for what it is. When it's down, I end up missing live boosts which has me looking for a better solution to alert me when they boosts come in. The Bot is great for getting those messages into the trollroom and here on No Agenda Social as it encourages more people to boost! Is there a way to run something similar on my own hardware? Have Pis doing nothing.
@388a5698 Darren, you please do with boostbot whatever you want, I can live with it if it throws error Regarding being notified: check settings in your getAlby: you can set there threshold for email sending when boostograms are coming so maybe this way you could see incoming LIVE Boostagrams even without Boostbot CC: @88fdbd58
@efa2e20e @388a5698 Good news and Bad new. I think it is tor. I think its related to the new proof of work tor release. I updated tor and the node started syncing but the existing tor channels are not connected. I think the tor network is rejecting connections with out the PoW so I need to get my channel partners to update Tor as well. So Boostbot might be down tell then BUT if I am right Boostbot should be more stable going foreword. https://blog.torproject.org/introducing-proof-of-work-defense-for-onion-services/
@388a5698 @efa2e20e Yes you can run it yourself. They run it in the #bowlAfterbowl channel on their raspiblitz node.. Here is the code https://github.com/valcanobacon/BoostBots but as SirSpencer would say the docs are not tardproof yet. It currently only works with a node that provides the LND API. Let me know if you need help running it or if you need me to make some code changes to work with your setup.
