I converted my iPhone to a dumb phone yesterday and only my friend has the password to make changes. - Turned off Safari. - Limited Twitter, Instagram, and Damus to 10 minutes total (I may increase this time limit). - App installing still allowed (I may turn this off depending on if I see myself using it as a work around). I have accepted for the time being that a Ulysses pact is the best way to reduce social media usage. I was hoping that I could reduce social media usage by simply growing in virtue but that hasn't really worked for me. Maybe it would in the future when I am more mature.
I did this three years ago with my girlfriend. Works very well. Definitely get rid of app installing. Also find things you enjoy doing in real life - that's the best permanent solution.
Exactly the conclusion I am coming to. Do you still have your phone limited?
I transitioned to GrapheneOS on a pixel so while I don't have any limits, I never reinstalled any google apps or things like twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. I also use Mullvad VPN and have all the DNS content filters turned on so most social media, gambling, or adult content is unreachable. Ultimately there is always a way around a filter so self control and outdoor hobbies are also very important.
But here you are posting on Nostr. Resistance is futile.
