Thoughts on smart locks?
I know there’s the cyber risk, but let me make a case for them:
1. If someone is going to go to the bother of hacking your lock, then they might as well just kick your door in. Ditto the police.
2. If it’s digital only, there is physically nothing to pick, and no keys to copy
3. Access leaves a digital audit trail and could notify you immediately
4. You can extend and revoke access to labor and friends easily
5. You can’t lose your keys
@86ee8b2c why does it have to be internet connected?
@86ee8b2c // Remember the Alexa story from a month back, where an Amazon driver reported a racist remark from a Ring doorbell, Amazon suspended the homeowner's service, which shut down his "smart" home? That likely included his smart lock... Zero chance I'd put my home's lock on my WiFi and connect it to a cloud service.

1. They are not so smart when they loose power.
2. Make sure they can be manually operated from inside to provide for egress during emergency situations (should be operable by kids).
