PC gaming has its own share of bullshit. For example, just the very concept of “gaming PCs”. Wait, is that to imply that certain PCs can’t do gaming? I’m telling you right now that’s complete and utter poppycock. All PCs are gaming PCs. The bigger question is: what kind of gaming do you want to do on your PC? Certainly, if you want to play Starfield, you need at least a GTX 1070 Ti. But there are hundreds of thousands of PC games and most of them don’t even require anything close to what Starfield demands. Most games I play don’t even require a discrete GPU. Most of them run great on even the most cheap Windows PCs being sold today. You don’t need an expensive rig to run Serious Sam or Half-Life or Spelunky or Super Meat Boy, etc. Even indie games being made right now don’t require expensive hardware. But hey, the likes of Best Buy have to sell you on the idea that “gaming PCs” can play games while other PCs can’t. And apparently the “gaming PCs” can be identified through gaudy RGB lighting.
@Chris Trottier having poorly optimized software has been a plague since the dawn of the PC. I too won't buy a game I'm sure would run like absolute dogsghit on my PC. And if I want to play an Xbox game like Starfield I'll do it either on my Xbox or through the cloud. Give me a reason to upgrade my PC and I'll do.
