Hmmm, bitcoin is a broad church.  As an asset it is competing with gold and the dollar.  That level of success was not anticipated at inception.  There is much more it can do, but it is not competing in the same way or with the same success in other use cases, and there's not alot of demand or appetite, right now.  For example bitcoin has an amazingly rich surface for smart contracts, layer2 and social, but has not taken off hugely (it took ages to get any traction in social witn nostr, or before that with lorea).  I dont think any one group can say bitcoin should be the way I want it to be, it's more about what people make, what its used for, and what becomes popular.  We've only scratched the surface of what bitcoin can do and so far it's done pretty well.
