Science/coastal hivemind, I need your help. We’re working on the underwater acoustics of small all-electric boats (almost certainly far less underwater noise pollution than engines). We would like to do some trials - just measuring the sound near an electric boat - but we’re struggling to find someone in (or very near) the UK who has an electric boat we could use/hire. Has anyone got any ideas or know anyone who owns an electric boat?

@33b0a4fd can't help with the UK, but if you fancy a field trip to Aveiro, Portugal, they're experimenting with electric versions of the traditional boat, the moliceiro, which is now used for sightseeing tours.

@33b0a4fd Sorry, I’m of no help, but I was wondering what the difference would be - reduced intensity, or a difference in frequency range that doesn’t travel so far?
@33b0a4fd Again not a sea based option, but The National Trust at Dapdune Wharf in Guildford have a couple of electric boats on the river there. Fiona is admin there on fiona.exall@nationaltrust.org.uk
@33b0a4fd Hydrogenesis in Bristol has electric motors. It's powered by hydrogen fuel cells rather than batteries https://bristolpacket.co.uk/boats/hydrogenesis.php
@33b0a4fd as a weird isolated market, I would look-see if there is an electric narrow-boats market.
