 No-one round here is going to be surprised that the condition of #roads is deteriorating - its just one more aspect of the toxic Americanisation of the UK's #economy. 

JK Galbraith once (famously) characterised the US as exhibiting  'private affluence & public squalor' and this is increasingly what we see in the UK - the continued delaying of #maintenance has wider impacts than just the #RAAC crisis

 @43d7c4ea the same here in Germany. But we are in early stages of giving state duties to private companies. 
But I love your term Americanisation. It fits to so many things. Sadly

 @43d7c4ea I’m amazed that there isn’t a way to fill potholes ( albeit a temporary fix ) with some sort of fast setting substance. I have next to no engineering knowledge as I’ve probably just demonstrated :-)

 @43d7c4ea A tip from across the pond. Follow the money. Go after the people buying your politicians or you are screwed.
They will buy both, all three or four parties. They will buy the next politician after you vote the “corrupt” one out.
You have to go after the corruptors before it’s too late.
Tax & regulate the hell out of the rich, if a politician doesn’t do that immediately they are bought & paid for.
