Kids are weird sometimes when you're introducing them to new foods 🤷♀️. Maybe intimidating is a better word for something that most people consider not "kid food". I've always fed my kid whatever we were eating, but that's not always the case. If you make it fun like meatballs or putting it on some kind of crust and calling it pizza, it makes it more approachable for kids that sometimes don't like to try new things. A little bit of familiar goes a long way.
