@a1e52b69 I recall there being some discussion about this. Maybe hosts should remind their listeners for now at start of episode to set playback to 1x to enjoy the included musical interludes.
@916a3200 yea but what if its 2 hours long and just a single song is played
@a1e52b69 @916a3200 I bet a sensible app could spot the presence of a timed value split, see that the original remote item is music, and drop the speed down to x1. Seems a programmable setting, and not a thing that needs a new field in the RSS.
@92f75699 @a1e52b69 agreed..that's what I imagined eventually in apps during playback. https://cdn.masto.host/podcastindexsocial/media_attachments/files/111/075/024/164/672/330/original/aa05787d8d0c5b19.png
@916a3200 @a1e52b69 Playback speed: [1.3x] Reduce to 1x during music? [✔️]
@92f75699 @916a3200 @a1e52b69 Yes, we talked a lot about it with the chapters spec. The discussion was around marking a chapter as 1x speed. There was pushback on it, but I don't remember the exact reason. Maybe abuse or overuse?
@fce803cc @92f75699 @916a3200 @a1e52b69 I would totally abuse that feature.
@6a75920f @fce803cc @916a3200 @a1e52b69 It's the hierarchy for all podcast apps (or should be) 1. Respect the user 2. Respect the creator 3. Respect those who pay for it (if not #1 or #2) 4. Respect the network (the pipes/tubes/services/directories) The creator's wishes should come second to the user's wishes in an ideal world.
