Interesting. Is it really that easy to load malware on your phone simply by visiting a website?

Id imagine the browser would let you know you’re downloading something? nostr:note1veq79zdqnfafu9x05y8ghpdhca7dt0at382dd5fpn2dwz7zrnxuqk7yay2
Probably depends on your browser, if you using Edge or Internet Explorer then probably real easy to hack. 🤣
I think most phones will either have Chrome or Safari
Yeah, I think so too. I use Brave on mobile.
There was an exploit regarding some image format and some browsers decades ago. This meant that it was possible to get a malware payload from a banner ad.

The idea that clandestine agencies are waiting for you to visit pornhub, versus just using the pre-installed Google services (or a dedicated survelliance chip) is rather silly.

There was also case where FBI could not unlock an iPhone and they had to approach an Israeli tech company to do it
Was it legit or was it just a big advertisement? Israeli companies exist that can break iphones, that's for sure.

I struggle to see how telegram ceo gets arrested for non compliance but then apple has no repercussions for thier non compliance. Diff countries OK, but same powers and needs.

It's FUD. Drive-by malware is a thing but most of what John and OP say here is a massive exaggeration of the truth. Rants like that are why people believe the "privacy is dead" psyop.
Yeah, saw this clip and also kinda doubtful. Not technical enough to verify how true it is. Any experts on Nostr to help clarify the his arguments and if true, the severity of the problem? #AskNostr
If you really want privacy , anonymity is the only way .. you can't have identity and privacy .. and btw .. for 99.9 percent people , it is not even an issue ..
It’s an issue for 100% of the population whether they know it or not
We never asked for privacy on the road .. everyone can see what we are doing .. except that they don't know our identity .. still we like to behave well in public spaces because there is no privacy ..

Why would you want anything different for internet ?
What you want is anonymity - on internet ... Not privacy .. these two are different ..
The problem however is , people want to identify themselves ..and want privacy too.. that is not a choice ..

Either be anonymous and enjoy the freedom of the road ..

Or be a public popular identity .. but you will be well known ..

Choice is yours ..

Btw Satoshi chose first ..
I don’t agree with any of your takes. When I go out in public I expect complete privacy while I use a restroom.
Okay .. let me give an example .. we know Jack is a well known public identity .. all his communications on public networks can be retrieved given enough effort and time .. its only a matter of willingness ..

On the other hand , Satoshi is anonymous .. there is no way for us to connect any other piece of information to him ..

What Satoshi sacrificed is personal fame .. that is the cost of anonymity.. you can't be popular and private ..

Btw - that's why politics is called public life .. once you have thrown your hat in ..you must be ready to take on scrutiny..
Restroom :-) did you not hear the locker room talks of famour politicians ..

Jokes apart - communications are not rest rooms ..

Btw - in India , in olden times , we used to go out in jungle to take of business .. if someone known passed by .. the best tool was to cover your face .. save identity.. not the act ..

If you want to be well known , then people will want to know everything about you .. even locker room rants :-)

More popular you get , more time and effort will be spent into decrypting your identity.

For regular people , it never becomes an issue because they never become popular ..

Only one , I know who is popular like God , yet unknown - because s/he is absolutely anonymous .. Satoshi
