I've been using POP!_OS from system76.com for several years now.

It's been working well. Been evaluating if NixOS is the next best step to take.
The problem that I observe is that in Linux world, everybody talks about skins and nobody talks about basic functionality.

Linux makes a fantastic server OS, but the things that make a great server are not the same as the things that make a great desktop.

To give you an idea on my mindset, despite the horrendous functionality, my go to NOSTR client is still Primal. It looks fantastic, is very intuitive to use, but the backend is shit.

Damus is my “it just works”, it looks fine, works brilliantly, but is more involved to use.

For the moment, I’m not prepared to use my StarLabs laptop as a daily driver as, apart from the build quality, the thing is harder to use, more convoluted to achieve the results I want as quickly as I want and things break and things become impossible to do.

Apple is just starting to trend that way. If Apple approach this scenario, then I would make the switch, but I’d prefer everybody do up their game and not make me choose based on usability.

This would be real choice.

I have no real choice right now.
