Yeah they intentionally do not have truck parking even though their locations are bigger than most truck stops and they could easily accommodate them because they do not want "that kind" of clientele.
I'm a fan of the food but don't know much else about them. They clearly make their money on retail volume. Just curious if that would be a thing under a BTC standard. Probably?
Yes they're popular because they offer quality, quantity, and variety. Capitalism at work. Totally viable on a Bitcoin standard.
They aim to be the best in their chosen market which enables them to capture a larger share of that market. This type of competitive edge is something that a Bitcoin standard would promote. It's the opposite of fiat economics. On a Bitcoin standard you would see this type of business model flourish in more market segments.
Meritocracy is the word that I couldn't think of when I was writing that. A Bitcoin standard promotes meritocracy.
I agree with all of that, the capital to get that scale that fast is what made me ask. I don't recall ever seeing a small buccees so they went all out and my guess would be with borrowed low interest rate? Not judging just curious
Hard to say. There's a lot of money in Texas. I don't know anything about the founders but they may have had oil money and/or a lot of land to borrow against.
I'm not a Buccee's apologist by any means. I go there sometimes because they have one food item I like. I've never heard anything negative said about truckers in relation to their truck ban. What I do know is that their parking lots are already a traffic nightmare without trucks trying to pull in with all of everyone that is already there. I feel like it's less about hostile discrimination than trying to fulfill a niche.
Well hang on a second, it's a place for RVers. So let me give you the other perspective on this, since I'm an RVer and not a trucker. I go down the road hundreds of miles at a time. Sometimes multi-day driving, which requires that I pull over somewhere and stop. But if I stop at a rest stop, even though it's for everyone it's more for truckers and I'm taking a trucker spot. And I've had truckers tell me it makes them mad if they can't get a spot late at night. So where should I go? Now, before Buccees there was nothing like it, that I know of. So how else would it be possible for them to cater to the RV/travel demographic without becoming another Loves or other "travel stop" station?
Yes they choose to cater to one market segment and not another. I choose not to patronize a business that chose not to do business with the drivers whom I see as deserving the most respect and deference. Truckers serve a vital function in our economy.
