Seed oil is bad for you and that includes peanut oil? So does that mean eating peanuts is bad for you too? Or if the badness of seed oils comes from all the heating, solvents, deodorizing, bleaching, etc, doesn't that also apply to a lot of the olive oil produced? #asknostr
The olive oils going through excessive processing and not worth using in food anyways. Other than that, I’m not the anti-seed-oil maxi that might have an answer to that question, just an olive oil lover.
The inflammatory effect of seed oils (very high concentrations of linoleic acid) comes from the industrial processes, as you described, and of the concentration. Yes, it can also apply to olive oil. So if you want to consume olive oil, I'd recommend it be extra virgen cold pressed organic olive oil. It will have much smaller amounts of linoleic acid. Nonetheless, it can be hard to find a decent brand since it's very easy to mix olive oil and other seed oils without you being able to notice the difference, even with laboratory equipment. Peanuts aren't necessarily bad for you and you'll get mixed responses amongst the low carb community. One thing is for sure, they're a lot healthier than seed oils.
Olive oil doesnt need to be cold pressed although that is a great option, single estate artisinal Olive oil will be the best quality, produced by traditional milling methods or cold pressed. The important factor is that the oil is not chemically extracted on an industial scale. The sheer number of Mediterranean people who live to a very active and healthy old age is all the convincing I need that Olive oil (as described here) is very good for you. We have likely used Olive oil in this way for tens of thousands of years. Sad part is that this quality is very hard to find unless you go straight to the producing region. (Disclaimer: non-scientific, heavily biased answer from someone who loves artisinally produced Olive oil 😂)
Polyunsaturated fats are toxic and are the main constituent fat of seeds. Olives are a fruit and contain mainly monounsaturated fats. Extra virgin olive oil is produced by crushing olives , no other processing is needed. Peanuts are toxic as they are a type of seed.
To answer your question “is eating peanuts bad for you”, I’m no expert, but a long time ago when I was researching such things for my own curiosity, the answer seemed to be yes, peanuts are bad for you, due to them containing something called “lectins”.
That is all correct. Peanut oil is bad because it’s highly processed. Olive oil is very difficult for even chemists to differentiate from other seed oils. Don’t ever cook with olive oil. I’ve heard that organic extra virgin cold pressed olive oil is ok for salads but idk what the point of that is. And peanuts aren’t good for you.
If your body doesn't feel like shit after you consume it, price/taste should be the only thing that matters.
I think I feel like shit hours later but it's hard to correlate. I wish I could use signaling from my body but those machine oils are refined specifically to bypass revulsion during consumption. Taste, smell and visual markers all removed by heavy processing.
