Can we find a reasonable candidate and have a grass roots write-in campaign. So far the people putting themselves forward are not it.
The Constitution doesn't mention a popular vote for the Executive Branch. The only votes that have ever mattered are from the Electoral College. Write in anyone. Even if they get 100% of the popular vote, it won't matter if the Electoral College votes for someone else.
I’ve only seen the electors vote in line with their state. 🤷🏼♀️
Not true. Hillary won the popular vote against Trump. It's happened several times in US history. The popular vote has always been "for show", and is meaningless in the actual process.
Winning the popular vote but losing the electoral college doesn’t mean the electors voted in opposition to the citizens of their state. The electoral college was put in place so large population centers wouldn’t carry more sway than states with more rural or agricultural areas. It was meant to provide equity between states.
