The problem I have with not using obfuscation protocols is that currency cannot have legacy transaction data associated with it on an immutable ledger. Imagine if the government audited your cash and took any bills that were ever used for illicit or illegal exchange of value. This possibility is a real threat for BTC if this isn’t solved.
