@96b74a09 Nope. I counter sunk all the nails yesterday. I'm going to get about halfway through my various papers and then full the holes. My neighbour the carpenter said that would be fine. Especially considering the Home Despot was out of filler and our local specialty place is closed today. 

 @e5fdd91a use your sawdust to fill the holes then flood it with thin super glue. Or you can mix a paste of your sawdust with some wood glue as your filler

I wasn't filling nail holes, but that's how I applied my first coat of sealant on an oak tabletop.
Wet/dry sand paper to apply polyurethane, boiled linseed oil, and a splash of mineral spirits.  Sand to fill in the tiny little pores of the red oak.
