Quality of sleep: Physical vs Mental Exhaustion I've worked both very physically demanding manual labour jobs and very cognitively demanding jobs, emotionally taxing and complex work. The best sleep I get is after being physically exhausted, not mentally exhausted. I find after a day of physical labour or activity, even if I'm wiped put, I sleep so deeply. Conversely, after a being exhausted by a mentally demanding day my sleep is terrible, takes me a long time to sleep, bad quality, bad dreams. Certainly I feel happier and as though I've earned it after working physically. #grownostr
Agree. Bad sleep after mental work as I’m still thinking about it. Physical work is all about body/muscular rejuvenation. One solution to mental work is to switch off with physical exercises directly afterwards.
That's a good idea. Sometimes I do have rage workouts after a particularly bad day.
I find much the same. If I haven’t done much exercise in a day I have difficulty sleeping. Also if I’ve had a difficult day with work and particularly if I’ve been working late at night then it takes a long time for my mind to switch off before I fall asleep and I will often wake up more during the night.
Yeah it's that brain activity, not being able to turn it off.
