@6a018a2a We donated ours and it was still working fine. @48bfa577
@bbe973e1 @6a018a2a the repair ours needed was a result of a lightening strike. It fried the power supply and took out the hdmi board. This in spite of house wide surge protection
@48bfa577 I get that, the last strike came through the Ethernet and fried a lot of electronics, so we added more surge protector's to the products that use Ethernet. No issue since, seems ridiculous to have to add those when you have whole house -- yet you should. @6a018a2a
@bbe973e1 @48bfa577 Surge protection is only as good as the household wiring and overall Grounding... otherwise , most of the time the stuff is useless unless you have really good expensive surge protectors...
@6a018a2a @bbe973e1 our house had all brand new wiring throughout and it was well grounded. Nonetheless the strike overwhelmed the ground and traveled 150 feet past the house and 380 feet down to the well pump. It Ultimately depends on how many joules you get blasted with.
@6a018a2a Agreed! The dh wired our house and having the surge come in over the Ethernet was a surprise. We had our PC's on the correct surge protector, just had to add more! We have a home protector and the cable had one outside of the house...🤷♀️ @48bfa577
@bbe973e1 @6a018a2a it also fried our well pump, and half out ceiling fans. It was quite pleasant.
@48bfa577 @bbe973e1 @6a018a2a I have had good luck with this. Eaton CHSPT2SURGE SPD Type 2 Chsp Whole Home Surge Protector, Nema 4, Single Phase, 120/240 Volts, Ul 1449 3Rd Edition https://a.co/d/361dleQ
