I would like a "For You" algorithm on NOSTR actually https://image.nostr.build/3726288a6c148428e8d94aaf549cb239c18d3210ece96c534b7655f563299c6f.jpg
yes. we need more algorithms here. algos aren’t evil.

corporate controlled algorithms that don’t serve end user needs can trend toward evil
what about certain relays do a bet of "what content Zacarias is more likely to react" paid in Satoshis and let the data be available all across nostr for data analysis.

As it is paid it allow free market.

GN.
idea: an LLM that does recommendation. learns about your keywords via chat. and checks the incoming notes. if a note is 'noteworthy' and is about your keywords then sends it to you or tags you. 🤔
That will be very very expensive ...
You might consider not saying we like you speak for all of us. This kind of hubris is a hold over from Silicon Valley boom era neoliberalism, which the whole world is quite fed up with.
what if we improved search without resorting to algorithms that control what we see on our main feed.
 🙏🙏
Algorithms are evil they turn social networks into news feeds and destroy social relationships

They promote mental illness in individuals and mob behaviour in society

I'll defend ppls freedom to choose that

But won't say that it's good
"Show recent notes ordered by timestamp" is an algorithm. It's basic/stupid, but it is algorithm.
Perhaps everything is a function of time and therefore an algorithm

To make the language more precise maybe "social algorithms" where the parameters are social metrics
 Algos are like AI
they serve the coder's bias
show me a coder who can't be bought/compromised.

No algos - more curation
Can't curate at scale - maybe community feedback (like X) works here.
Yes. But with this, clients need to make money. Subscriptions and donations are not a viable business model.

The only one that works is ads.

But a client that is not greedy with ad insertions, and shares that ad revenue with creators AND RELAYS, will both grow their bottom line and Nostr's userbase too. So so so important.
We working precisely on this. If u wanna help out, let me know!
Nice, able to elaborate? Not able to do much these days due to health, otherwise I'd be waist deep myself.

But can provide feedback and advice.

I just want to see a sustainable client. The FOSS, free, non-monetized ones can't survive. Some profit motive is important.
Have a read of this for an idea of what we’re going to do. More notes on the way

Busy building one for travel and food !!
 🎯
Been trying to tell people this forever. Algorithms can be misused. Doesn’t mean they have to be. You can have basic algorithms that aren’t biased or politically motivated.
Remember agreeing to #ai is another way of them asking you to tick the box "do you agree to us accessing and using everything you've ever said, liked, posted, video, photos, saved, ordered, looked at...etc..etc" #bitcoin #nostr #zap #plebchain

use open source AI on your machine then

This is a force that cannot be stopped, it will go on with or without you
Iris / snort has “for you”
 How does this work?
Not sure. Maybe @Martti Malmi can explain
Bluesky has an advantage in that regard with feed/mute lists/lists
Absolutely! It’s so hard to break outside a small group and see anything new.
 Let’s create it
Yes, basically a “latest” feed with interjected trending notes based on interests and interactions
It'll probably be clients who develop algorithms of their own, right?
Thank god people are finally making sense on here. I thought I was in a parallel universe when boneheads were literally hating on algos.

We want algos. Good algos.
That can't be in the relay (backend). Clients must provide this or a dwm. Can be a business model if people pay for curation by algo.
We sort of have this on snort but its not perfect
 How does it work?
It uses the internal cache in the browser, checking for likes/zaps on posts for people you follow, and mixes that with latest notes. @Martti Malmi made it
