@139feece It is a multidisciplinary practical field with a fistful of partial models that help sometimes.  But if we were really going to bin it in with other disciplines, I'd honestly call it a specialization of sociology.  This angers a lot of business school people, which makes me happy. 

 @3840abd4 I can agree with that actually.  "Economic Sociology" as it were.

I wonder if considering "The Economy" as some identifiable, studiable, distinct entity is a cultural/political distortion.
