Quick continuation - just wanted to add that I don't see any fediverse-compatible projects that could host academic papers, even though this kind of thing would be perfect for universities to host themselves. As a disaffected tech worker, maybe I will build it myself.

Thanks for all that you do to put these ideas into words - it has really clarified a number of things I have felt about the tech industry (I'm a recovering Tesla employee) but haven't been able to articulate.
