As an older bitcoiner (class of 2012) it is amazing to see people cyclically lose their minds around halvings. Fees spike, side chains come and go (usually with a rug pull). On chain values rise and fall. Miners go boom and bust. The timechain marches on. Store your value in the timechain. Tick tock. Next block.
As someone who has been around along time as well, most of this and the influencers that pop up every cycle are just white noise to me. Much of it is just people trying to sell their own gold rush shovels. It’s best to just have your own plan and stick to it. Patience and a life to live outside of this is key.
This is why I don't write notes. Bitcoiners 3 months ago: FEES WONT SUPPORT MINERS need fork Bitcoiners today: MINER FEES TOO HIGH need fork Ffs ima just keep stacking and running my node as is.
True Bitcoin price is the cost of hash power. As we see more "buyer of first resort" mining operations tied to remote small grid energy production projects, the cost of power will become the cost of mining bitcoin +1sat. In this decentralized power setup, people in remote regions may be the first to experience true free market circular bitcoin economies.
It's the small DCAers that were told to get their BTC off exchanges. They've built up huge amounts of UXTOs that are either going to be hit by v high % fees, or even turned to dust. Lots of disenchantment. Hope there's some automated solutions to help them soon.
Utxo management wasn't anything I saw people talking about, at least not when I got in. It's like a kid that got all these cool toys for Christmas but no one's telling him to clean his room and not leave them lying around everywhere to get stepped on and broken. The adults were just taking it for granted that the kid would keep it clean. Utxo management is one of the first things people should be told about self-custodying bitcoin. It should be persistently hammered into their heads instead of being fear-mongered to "git yer coins off dirty exchanges."

Much scarcer than gold! There are thousands of tons of gold in various vaults While there's not even an ounce of Bitcoin in the whole world

Tell that to people in the developing world.
Bitcoin layer one was never optimized for tiny amounts of bitcoin. It’s like driving an 18-wheeler to work everyday. It’s like if every email ever sent by everyone had to be stored on everyone’s computer forever. I invest in things for the developing world, and they are all part of the layered solution.
A month ago everyone was fine with lightning as the primary solution for payments, especially for the developing world. The apps and tools being built for the global south are lightning based. But now folks are preaching full sovereignty on the main chain as the only acceptable outcome. I don’t get it.
be prepared for: „zap me x sats or I will close our lightning channel“
Try sending $35 worth of Bitcoin. lol
