my fave fashion influencer confirmed on tiktok yesterday that all the smart girlies are training the insta algo to bring them pretty dresses they wanna wear if you’re not actively shaping the algos in your life by giving them feedback you are engaging in npc behavior you just gotta have patience and a good idea of what you’re interested in/want more of
Must be an NPC then...the algos are the problem. Privacy is more important.
algos are imporant, but they need to serve you theres so much data available that you need some sort of sorting and personalization because you dont want to look at uninteresting garbage but you have to take step further in your thinking and not just repeat shit u read on the internet
Have to disagree...algos are the problem. I've taken quite a number of aggressive steps to avoid algos in my personal life. I'll search for my own data (thank you). I don't need *any* algorithm telling me what I should (and should not) be receiving as content. "Convenience is not an excuse for sacrificing privacy"
first bit of this post: “I truly have built my ads on there [instagram] brick by brick” “probably 50% of the dresses you see my try on on here, were served to me as instagram ads” https://youtube.com/shorts/tNCRvhw8d7U?si=f3vmbYapUvHnx68z
I don’t have Instagram but, before I deactivated my account, I did that on Twitter. I decided I only wanted art/literature, I stayed in the “for you” mode and it gave me exactly that. Also a little less ads. As soon as I went back to follow mode and interacted only with the accounts I followed, It started to change. If you don't mind being profiled as a product all the time and getting something of value in return —depending on what's valuable to you— that's the way to go.
