I know a few people who lived in, and escaped from, communist countries. They hated it, but a lot of people they knew liked being given free shit, not working and snitching on people. Hard working, honest people seem to dislike living under communism.
I think this came down to human nature. Why? We are always dissatisfied of our situation. If you have money in the bank, it is not enough. If you have fair skin, it is not enough. If you have some level of freedom, it is not enough. We always want what we do not have. We always think of the what ifs. We're never satisfied. This is what most people feel and think if your happiness and your sense of fulfillment is externalised. 👌☺️
