 2/ More from the article:

"The decision [not to run] was part political, part actuarial. The men in his family had history of sudden heart failure & none had lived longer than his father who died at 88. “Do I want to spend 8 of 12 years I have left sitting here & not getting anything done?”...But there was something else. His time in the Senate had left Romney worried—not just about the decomposition of his own political party, but about the fate of the American project itself"
 3/ A given:

"One of his new colleagues told him that the first consideration when voting on any bill should be “Will this help me win reelection?” (The second and third considerations, the colleague continued, should be what effect it would have on his constituents and on his state.)"

🥥 Willard "Mitt" #Romney doesn't want to waste his remaining years sitting around the #Senate passing tax breaks for the morbidly rich.
He's got better things to do, like hostile takeovers of struggling companies, burdening them with debt, and selling them off in parts after stripping them of assets.
The widows and orphans aren't going to end up on the streets by themselves, my friend. 🥥
