I don't want to pay for a subscription to use Nostr, it means handing over identity and financial metadata as a minimum, many people come to nostr to avoid just that crap but also so we are not dependent on 'entrepreneurs' 'monetising our speech. That isn't freedom. Capitalists hoping to make a quick bitcoin buck from Nostr are the problem not the solution. What if nostr ISN'T meant to be profitable. It needs to be run with little or no finance. Or it isn't worth much more than paying musk for twitter
I get this, but whatever it is should be sustainable long term. The thing about grant funding is that they run out and then there's a big question of where the next paycheck is gonna come from.

The result, as I see it, is often a misallocation of capital because it's disconnected from user and market demands.

That all ends up with abandoned projects, which is a huge bummer IMO.
I get it, but nothing that comes free will stick around for long, unless those who develop clients and run relays FOR YOU can find a way to justify all the time, productive energy, and money they spend.

That is... unless they do what most of the big tech guys do and turn YOU into the product to serve ads to.

You can either show your appreciation to the devs and relay runners who make this thing possible by ensuring they get to keep doing what they are doing, or else it all will go away and fade into obscurity because it was unsustainable from the jump.
